Our Residents

Our residents live in our family and senior

The CHA provides housing for approximately 139,000 residents who make up about five percent of the city’s population. Our tenant base is multi-ethnic, predominantly African American and primarily single female heads of household. Forty-six percent of CHA residents are no more than 18-years-old and 15 percent are senior citizens. Currently, more than half of CHA residents have income levels ranging from $4,000-$7,999 and are actively working towards self-sufficiency.

The CHA partners with many organizations to ensure our residents have access to opportunities and services that help them with their self-sufficiency. The Charles A. Hayes Family Investment Center is another CHA collaboration available to residents that offers family support, child development services and digital literacy training.
