A Message from the CEO

Chief Executive Officer Lewis A. JordanWelcome to CHA's Web site.  We're glad to make it easier than ever to find information on CHA and the housing and services it offers.

These are challenging times, for CHA and across the nation. I am proud that despite the tough economic climate, CHA is rising above those challenges to create vibrant mixed-income/mixed-finance neighborhoods, help low-income residents achieve self-sufficiency, and provide affordable housing options in a time of need.

We are now in the midst of the largest, most ambitious redevelopment effort of public housing in our country's history. The Plan for Transformation, begun under the leadership of Mayor Richard M. Daley in 2000, will rehabilitate or replace CHA's entire stock of public housing units. We are proud of the progress of the Plan and will continue to update the Web site as more and more leaseholders make their final housing choice.

However, CHA is about more than bricks and mortar. It's about supporting leaseholders and their communities as they reach for and attain self-sufficiency, ensuring the ongoing health of their families and neighborhoods. The Authority and CHA leaseholders are part of the fabric of the city, and our goal is nothing less than to support active, stable families in taking part in all of Chicago's vibrant communities.

I invite you to explore the Web site. Here you can find information on housing opportunities, find out about services for leaseholders, learn about doing business with CHA and find a wealth of background information about the Authority and the Plan for Transformation.

Thank you for visiting.
