CHA helps build strong, vibrant communities throughout the city in partnership with a host of key stakeholders. As the largest owner of rental housing in Chicago, CHA provides homes to more than 50,000 people. CHA has almost 9,500 senior apartments and more than 7,000 units of family housing. It also oversees 35,000 Housing Choice Vouchers that allow low-income families to rent in the private market.

New CHA website provides job opportunities for Section 3 residents

The Chicago Housing Authority has launched a new website that allows Section 3 residents to apply for jobs with CHA and its contractors.

Public Comment Period for City Gardens is Open

The public comment period for City Gardens will be from March 27, 2014 through April 28, 2014, and the public comment hearing will be held on April 8, 2014.

Public Comment Period for Rosenwald Courts is Open

The public comment period for Rosenwald Courts will be from March 24, 2014 through April 23, 2014, and the public comment hearing will be held on April 8, 2014. 

2014-2015 CHA Scholarship Program Announced

From January 15-May 15, the all new 2014-15 CHA Scholarship Program will accept applications. Over 100 scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 based on each applicant’s financial need and academic merit are currently planned to be awarded to recipients.

Health Care Options Still Available

Even though Open Enrollment is over, you can still enroll in Medicaid or County Care.

New Target opens on former Cabrini-Green land, provides new opportunities to CHA residents

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Gov. Pat Quinn were on hand to commemorate an important snapshot in Chicago's history - the opening of the Near North Target, 1200 N. Larabee.
