Project Coordinator (Youth Ready Chicago Summer Program)

Minimum Salary: $20/hour
Coordinates the day to day activities for CHA’s Summer Youth Programs and provides information and appraisal of such activities to the Resident Services division staff. Assists in the implementation of policies and procedures to achieve the established goals and objectives of the program and is responsible for preparing reports and charts reflecting the status of the initiative.
Summary of Accountabilities
- Support staff in distributing and accounting for Chicago Park District Summer camp vouchers. Ensure that all eligible participants are informed of voucher availability and track individual as well as facility usage.
- Provide assistance in implementing the Learn and Earn Program using DFSS and CCC support as well as guidelines
- Track participants in College Prep programs and assist in the identification of possible participants, organize formal program introduction if required, and design a tracking program for participant success
- Organize a Life Learning program in cooperation with the Chicago Police Department, develop procedures for success tracking and evaluate learned skills
- Supervise CHA’s summer food program, track participants and contact vendors as it relates to content provision and quality.
- Create working relation with Summer Camp, refer interested participants to the appropriate as well as educate on expectations and responsibilities in accepting placement at a summer camp.

Job Requirements
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelors Degree supplemented by minimum two years of progressively responsible experience in working with youth.
- Previous experience in positions involving work with community organizations that promote summer youth opportunities.
- Ability to maintain a collaborative relation with stakeholders and ensure that contractors produce desired results
- Must be able to create reports that track success rates
- Proficient in MS Word, and Excel
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Requires effective problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills
The wage for this position is: $20/hour. This position is 40 hours per week for 9 weeks, starting May 24, 2010 and ending September 30, 2010. Transportation and a valid Driver License is required and mileage will be compensated.
