Description
The Summer Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative oversight for CHA’s Learn & Earn Program, an academic and career exploration program for 700 CHA youth ages 13-15. This position will plan, direct and monitor the program working closely with several subcontracted agencies that will staff and implement the program at seven city college locations. Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Opportunities, this position will drive all aspects of program management including youth recruitment and enrollment, lead planning meetings with all partners, outline and train partners on program tools and expectations, track budgets and expenses, review and monitor program quality, develop reports and address issues as they arise.
Some of the duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Manage youth recruitment, tracking program enrollment by site and developing site-based waitlists.
- Manage youth paperwork ensuring completion and submission.
- Lead planning meetings with internal parties, subcontractors and external partners to establish expectations and ensure timeline of deliverables is clearly communicated and met.
- Coordinate with external partners services for youth transit, food service, classroom needs and supplies.
- Track program budget and expenses.
- Train subcontractors and their staff on program tools including curriculum guides and attendance database.
- Support subcontractors with materials for staff training and seven orientation sessions.
- Throughout program implementation, regularly review subcontractor performance through site visits.
- Ensure quality in overall site administration, classroom goals and management, providing solutions to problems when necessary.
- Track program attendance, consistently filling youth spots available from site-based waitlists.
- Oversee payroll operations ensuring submission of timesheets and paperwork.
- Provide regular status reports to management on overall program activities, attendance and site needs.
- Utilize available resources including Resident Services team and case management providers to meet program goals.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
This position requires a Bachelors Degree and at least three years of Program Management experience (e.g. youth, adult or community programs, summer programs, afterschool programs) and education. Must possess excellent verbal, written, and customer relation skills. Effective problem-solving and organizational skills. Ability to exercise objective judgment, discretion and work on multiple initiatives simultaneously. Computer literacy required including experience in Microsoft Office applications and database management. Due to performing work at various sites throughout Chicago, candidates must possess a valid State of Illinois Driver’s License.
**This is a temporary, hourly position with no benefits and is projected to be available for approximately 180 days (March-August). **
