Treasury Technician

Description
Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of specialized or technical clerical accounting and bookkeeping functions related to the management of grant funds, especially American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) stimulus funds granted to the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Summary of Primary Accountabilities
Examples of responsibilities of this position may include, but not limited to:
- Examines financial data and compares with other source data for accuracy
- Reconciles reports and financial data with statements on file and reports inconsistencies
- Prepares a variety of financial statements for disbursements and balances and follows assigned steps in analysis
- Prepares charts, tables and other exhibits for reports
- Transfers data to excel in spreadsheet for distribution as directed
- Handle valuations, asset management and accounting practices
- Maintains the treasury procedures
Requirements
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related discipline; three plus (3+) years relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Possess a strong bias in Financial Mathematics and analysis.
This position also requires knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles, practices and procedures as well as skill in maintaining and reconciling accounting and financial records. High proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Must be detail oriented, conscientious with a systematic approach to tasks. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Illinois Driver’s License. This is a Part-Time, not to exceed two (2) years, no benefits
