Notice of the Right to Return to Public Housing
For Residents Who Lived in CHA on October 1, 1999
The Chicago Housing Authority (“CHA”) has contracted with Globetrotters International Incorporated (“GII”) to locate CHA residents who lived in CHA Public Housing on 10/1/99. Former CHA residents who lived in public housing on 10/1/99 and followed the rules of their lease have a right to permanent housing and may be eligible to move back to a new or rehabilitated public housing unit. Permanent housing options also include a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher if your family is already utilizing a temporary Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher. Permanent housing options depend on several factors including, but not limited to: housing preferences, housing status pursuant to the Relocation Rights Contract, appropriate bedroom size, lease compliance status, and the availability of public housing units.
