HOME VISITING PROGRAMS (PRENATAL TO AGE 3)
For families with youth ages 0-3, Home Visiting provides family support and coaching with a trained professional based on family needs and schedules. Home visiting is a voluntary program and home visitors work with parents on practical parenting skills as well as family bonding before birth and as children grow up. Visit http://igrowilllinois.org to find a Home Visiting Program near you.
The Chicago Housing Authority, Centers for New Horizons, and Metropolitan Family Services have partnered to provide a free Home Visiting program to 50 CHA families. The Altgeld Home Visiting Program promotes positive parenting practices that help parents better prepare their child for school in the comfort of their own home. Through weekly visits, this free program uses the Parents as Teachers curriculum to add tailored resources to support youth development, family goals, and provide clinical support. Plus, parent/child socials and fieldtrips are held monthly.
