CHICAGO (Sept. 28, 2018) –  Continuing its efforts to expand affordable housing options throughout the city, the Chicago Housing Authority teamed with partners this week to deliver new developments to communities on the North and South Sides.

Tierra Linda is a scattered-site development in the Logan Square, Humboldt Park and West Town communities; and Brainerd Park Apartments is a family development in the Washington Heights community.

“Tierra Linda is one piece of CHA’s commitment to bring affordable housing to the North Side,” said CHA CEO Eugene E. Jones, Jr. “And Brainerd Park Apartments features affordable rental units on the South Side. CHA is pleased to work with developers Latin United Community Housing Association (LUCHA), Christian Community Health Center and Full Circle Communities and the aldermen to deliver these much-needed affordable housing opportunities to these communities.”

LUCHA, a non-profit corporation founded in 1982, delivered Tierra Linda, 12 new construction buildings containing a total of 45 family units. CHA’s Property Rental Assistance (PRA) will assist 14 of those units.

Tierra Linda property sites are located in Gautreaux General Areas and adjacent to Opportunity Areas. Applicants are drawn from the CHA waitlist.

Amenities include Energy Star rated appliances with refrigerators, dishwashers, ranges, microwaves and ceiling fans.

Full Circle Communities, a non-profit corporation, and Christian Community Health Center delivered Brainerd Park Apartments, a new 36-unit building at 8900 South Loomis Street.

CHA’s PRA will assist nine of those units.

The property is located near the Brainerd Metra Station, which is served by Rock Island Metra and offers 20-minute service to the Chicago Loop.

Building amenities include a community room, computer lab with library space with free internet; and a laundry room. On-site parking is available for residents and guests.

A play area and community garden are also planned. A dedicated Mobile Health Stand will be made available at the building which will include medical and dental services.
