CHICAGO (May 7, 2021) - The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) partnered with the Daisie Foundation, a non-profit that specializes in random acts of kindness, for a special Mother’s Day celebration honoring 200 CHA residents Friday at the Charles A. Hayes Center.

CHA moms were treated to a day of pampering, including special giveaways, a packaged lunch from 5 Loaves Eatery and a pre-recorded message from Chicago media moms. The gathering was conducted beneath tents in the parking lot.

On hand was CHA CEO Tracey Scott, who thanked the Daisie Foundation for its support of CHA residents.

“This past year has been tough for everyone, but especially for parents who have had to navigate the unique demands of the pandemic, including e-learning and social distancing, along with all the other stresses of parenting,” she said. “Events like this one today not only reintroduce some normalcy back into our lives, but hopefully also some fun.”

Julie Hightower, President of the Board of the Daisie Foundation, said:

“The Daisie Foundation is honored to continue their partnership with the Chicago Housing Authority to celebrate the most deserving moms this Mother’s Day. We hope our combined efforts will provide a sprinkle of joy to these amazing women.”

Among the sponsors were: Benefit Cosmetics, Body Armor, Chicago Liposuction by Lift Body Center, Coiff Dew, ComEd, European Wax Center, Lifeway Foods, Luster Products, Meijer, Pink Pewter, Shiraleah and Snips of Success.

The four-hour event was broken into two time slots for the 200 participating CHA moms.

CHA resident Andria Puller, the mother of four kids, had a great time. She was thankful for the day.

“The music is good, the vendors are beautiful, the setup is very nice,” she said. “I’m very humbled to be chosen as a good mother from my community.”
