Effective immediately, the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) Board of Commissioners has appointed Matthew Brewer to serve as the agency’s Operating Chairman until a Chief Executive Officer is approved by the Board. Brewer has been a Commissioner on CHA’s Board since 2013. He was named Vice Chairman in November 2021 and has been acting as Interim Chairman since October 31, 2024.

Registration for Chicago Housing Authority’s (CHA) 18th annual Operation Warm Coat Distribution and Resource Fair is open. It is available to eligible families living in public housing and participants of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program with children roughly 14 years and younger.

It was the largest turnout in the event’s 15-year history, with 210 incoming freshmen being provided a fond farewell at Malcolm X College days before leaving for college.
