CHA Commits to Energy Reduction Target, Cutting Emissions Over Next Decade

CHA has joined the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Climate Challenge, committing to a 50 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and 15 percent energy use reduction over the next 10 years.

Youth Summer Jobs

CHA’s Summer Youth Employment Program gives young people a chance to work and earn money for six to eight weeks. It usually starts in June and goes until early August. Participants can work up to 20 hours each week.

Past careers have included filmmaking, photography, culinary arts, cosmetology, basketball, entrepreneurship, and music production.

CHA Scholarship Program

CHA encourages residents pursuing an undergraduate education to apply for the CHA Scholarship program. Awardees will receive $2,000 which can be used for tuition, books, or supplies.

The application for the 2025-2026 school year will be live January 30, 2025. Applicants will be notified of award status by July.

The Department of Procurement and Contracts (DPC) has a variety of workshops throughout the year at the Charles A. Hayes Family Investment Center (FIC) located at 4859 S. Wabash Ave, Chicago, IL 60615. 

Our Supplier Portal workshops specifically teach participants how to create a new vendor account, reset a password, and review and electronically bid for open solicitations.

The CHA Alumni Network is here to help your family after you move to market rent from subsidized housing. We offer one-time financial help and information about programs and services to support your family in staying self-sufficient. 

If you’ve been living in market rent housing for less than five years, you can apply for assistance. Eligible uses for funding include mortgage and rent payments, home repairs, and utility bills.

Resident Business Academy
