Development Update: Roosevelt Square 3B

Last January, CHA joined Related Midwest and other partners for the groundbreaking of Roosevelt Square Phase 3B, a $172 million project that included the rehabilitation of 184 existing affordable apartments as well as the construction of 222 new apartments.

HUD Awards Nearly $800K to CHA To Help Vulnerable Families and Youth in Foster Care Who Are at Risk of Homelessness

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded $778,477 to the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) Tuesday for 55 vouchers that will help youth with a history of foster care involvement who are homeless or at the risk of homelessness and families whose lack of adequate housing is the primary reason their children are in foster care.

CHA Board Passes $1.3 Billion 2024 Budget

CHICAGO (December 8, 2023) – The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) Board Commissioners approved the agency’s 2024 annual budget of $1.28 billion at a special Board Meeting. CHA CEO Tracey Scott said the budget reflects CHA’s dual mission of creating and preserving affordable housing while helping families achieve economic power.

CHA Distributed 5,000 Coats to Families, Children at 16th Annual Operation Warm

The Chicago Housing Authority partnered with the national non-profit Operation Warm for the 16th year Saturday at the UIC Forum, handing out 5,000 new winter coats to more than 2,000 families with children living in public housing and participants of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program.

Resident Spotlight: Molly Wilson named to Mayor's Youth Commission

CHA resident Molly Wilson was recently named to the 5th cohort of the Mayor’s Youth Commission. The Youth Commission meets monthly to give their input on youth-related City projects and policy. Youth Commissioners are between the ages of 14-19 and were selected through a rigorous application process which saw a record number of applicants from across the city.
