Take Flight: College Reception

For 150 college-bound freshman, CHA provides all the dorm room supplies they could ever need. With the help of partners like CNA and Target, students receive sheet sets, towels, shower caddies, alarm clocks and more – an average savings of $150 per student. Taking care of these incidental costs allows incoming CHA’s incoming freshman class to focus on their academics and getting through their first year living in campus housing.

Take Flight: Staying the Course

An annual check-in meeting for college-enrolled CHA youth, Take Flight: Staying the Course focuses on helping students persist through college. CHA youth meet with their peers, CHA staff and community partners to learn tips on academic success, professional networking and summer job opportunities. It’s also a chance for CHA staff to proactively address some of the common issues that may result in a student not completing the school year, including financial aid, dealing with social pressures and identifying resources on campus.

CHA Back-to-School Event at Brookfield Zoo

Every August, 400 elementary-aged CHA youth are exposed to a day of fun and education courtesy of Brookfield Zoo.  Each youth also receives a new backpack filled with school supplies thanks to the assistance of Pangea Real Estate.

Senior Gala

For more than 30 years, the Chicago Housing Authority has kicked off the holiday season celebrating its senior residents. At this ticketed event, nearly 2,000 seniors enjoy live music, performances, sponsored gifts and lunch. It is one of CHA’s signature occasions exclusively for seniors, with sponsorships offsetting the ticket price to ensure the event remains affordable for CHA residents.
