Evrod Cassimy is an Emmy-nominated news anchor for NBC-Chicago and a noted philanthropist. But did you know that he is also a talented singer/songwriter and has been a huge supporter of CHA’s Springboard to Success program for the last several years?

Ranye Holmes and his mother Winter Morris have been a formidable team. Now he’s on the brink of realizing his dream.

“My Mom had me pretty young. She raised me – but we kind of raised each other,” Ranye said. “We’ve been through it all, from shelters and everything – just getting through life together.”

For 15 years, industry professionals and partner organizations have gathered for education and networking with the goal of improving their businesses and supporting affordable housing opportunities throughout all of Chicago's 77 communities. 

Nearly 70 schools locally and from across the country were represented Tuesday at the Chicago Housing Authority’s Take Flight College Send-Off. It was the largest turnout in the event’s 15-year history, with 210 incoming freshmen being provided a fond farewell at Malcolm X College days before leaving for college.
