CHA CEO Jones Meets with Senior Residents at Caroline Hedger Apartments

Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) CEO Eugene Jones, Jr. today met with a number of residents at Caroline Hedger Apartments in the Rogers Park community on Chicago’s North Side to ensure that their apartments were warm and their needs were being met.

During a visit to the senior property, Jones talked with a number of seniors in their apartments to make sure that they were warm, comfortable and understood when they would be moving into a new unit.

The Hedger property is undergoing construction that will result in fully upgraded apartments and improved amenities, including new heating systems. As the new units are ready, residents have been moving into them. That process will continue through Friday, when most of the residents who are waiting for a new unit will be in their new apartments. The remaining few residents will move early next week.

CHA works with a moving company to move residents’ belongings from their old apartment to their new ones so that the residents do not have to be concerned about relocating their belongings.

CHA has been meeting with residents and their representatives at the building to discuss their needs and address their concerns. These fruitful meetings have resulted in a positive and productive dialogue that will continue as CHA updates the residents regularly on the progress at the building.

Additionally, CHA and its property managers have been performing regular heating checks twice a day during the cold weather to ensure that all residents have adequate heat.
