CHICAGO (March 9, 2018) –About 50 CHA students attended Mayor Rahm Emanuel's “Hour of Code” event this month at the Charles Hayes Center.

Each student in attendance received a certificate and a gift card for participating in the challenge. Apple Tablets were given to participants who completed a significant number of challenges - including two from Lawndale Gardens (Antuane Almon and Sherrie Emmons) and another from Major Adams/Henry Horner Homes (Mekhi Butler-Garrett).

Each student was asked to give an introduction and briefly say what they liked about coding. Resident Services Summer 2017 interns David Vernier and Maalik McClinton were in attendance and gave a short talk on the importance of technology and coding.

Lunch was provided, and each student was given a CHA book bag that included a phone charger and snacks.
