CHICAGO (July 10, 2017) – The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) announced today that registration is now open for the annual Owner Symposium to be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017.

Hosted by CHA’s Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program division, the event will run from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 E. Upper Wacker Dr. Chicago. Over 1,000 property owners/managers, real estate investors, exhibitors and sponsors are expected to attend.

Recognized experts from the housing industry will be on hand to provide attendees insight on such topics as:

  • Fair Housing
  • Property Management
  • Inspections
  • Building Maintenance
  • Rent Determination
  • Tax Savings
  • Evictions

Since its inception in 2008, the Owner Symposium has been the premier event for Chicago property owners, managers and real estate investors. The Symposium includes a full day of educational seminars as well as an exhibit hall hosting over 50 vendors.

“Property owners are vital partners in CHA’s mission to help low-income residents obtain safe, affordable housing and to support strong, healthy neighborhoods,” said Eugene Jones, Jr. CHA’s Chief Executive Officer. “The Symposium gives owners the opportunity to learn not only about the HCV Program, but also how to grow their businesses and improve their operations so that everyone can benefit. CHA is proud to host this unique and important event.”

Over the last 17 years, since the start of the Plan for Transformation in the year 2000, CHA has expanded the HCV Program to nearly 47,000 vouchers today, up from 30,000. Voucher holders live in every one of Chicago’s 77 community areas, demonstrating how the Program provides housing choice and opportunity to individuals and families across the city.

About the Chicago Housing Authority Housing Choice Voucher Program
The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program helps low-income households choose and pay for quality housing in the private market. With funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the HCV Program pays a portion of a family’s rent each month to give them access to the full range of housing available in Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods. Participants can rent a single-family home, an apartment or a condominium. The HCV Program helps families realize their potential and cultivate their personal, economic and social skills to support the transition from subsidized to non-subsidized housing.
