CHA and ComED Help Nearly 1,000 CHA Families Pay Off Their Electric Bills

CHICAGO – Nearly 1,000 CHA families have taken the opportunity to pay off their electricity bills through the All Clear Fund – a unique program created by ComEd and the Chicago Housing Authority. All eligible leaseholders are encouraged to take advantage of the program before it ends on April 15, 2008.

College Scholarships Are Designated for CHA Leaseholders

CHICAGO – The Chicago Housing Authority and its partners in education will present a workshop to provide leaseholders an opportunity to apply for scholarships designated for CHA residents, from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 22, 2008, at the Charles Hayes Family Investment Center, 4859 S. Hilliard Achieves 100 Percent Occupancy

Graduates of Family Self-Sufficiency Program Learn To Earn

CHICAGO – The average yearly income of graduates of the Chicago Housing Authority-sponsored Family Self Sufficiency program has increased 300 percent - from $7,786 to $23,463 – since its inception in 1996. The program has dispersed $4.6 million to 500 total graduates (an average of $9,313 per graduate) in that time. The FSS program has also produced 70 new homeowners.

Construction begins for New Homes at Oakwood Shores

CHICAGO –The Community Builders, Inc. and Granite Development Corporation together with the Chicago Housing Authority are pleased to announce the start of construction on the $58 million rental component of Oakwood Shores Phase 2A – the mixed-income replacement housing for Madden Park, Ida B. Wells and Clarence Darrow Homes.
